Not just a scrapbooker anymore

As most everyone knows I'm addicted to scrapbooking. Always have and always will be I love it.

So people I know convinced me I could do quilting so I thought I would try it and make Marcus a quilt for his room since we have been wanting to do redecorate for awhile.

Marcus is into rugby A LOT - ok he is obsessed so we searched and found rugby material in New Zealand - ordered and shipped. I got it and looked at it and said now what?

I got together with Heather and Eryn and they walked me through it. Heather designed it, and then they both helped me pick out the colours to go with the it, then the cutting of the fabric and sewing it together for the front panel and then we started the back and I finished that on my own at home.

I finished it and delivered to Heather so she could have a friend help me out and quilt it on her long arm quilting machine since this was a huge project. A double sized quilt. I could never hand quilt that myself nor could I free quilt it on my small sewing machine EVER! The thought of doing it even on a small scale scares me.

I just got it back the other day delivered by Heather and I am in LOVE with quilting. It turned out fantastic far better than my expectations and Marcus is in heaven about it so far.  Thanks Heather for taking a picture of me and the almost finished product.

I just need to bind it and that may take me awhile since I have no idea how to do that so now it sits as an unfinished project for a bit but that's ok I will figure it out soon.

I am now officially addicted to quilting and all that goes with it. And my basement may never turn into a play area for my dayhome kids (sorry kids)

A PREVIEW FOR OLIVER

I have a friend (yes I have one or two),  Her name is Tara.  Tara and I met about 8 years ago when she became employed in the office I was working at. We kind of hit it off right away. She reminding me of Anne Hathaway and we both became kindered spirits of all things movie related.

Well she had a munchkin named Jaxon, who will be 3 in November. I created a 12 month Disney album for him (you can see it here) It was so fun to make.

Tara and her husband Blair have since had another cutie named Oliver, and he will be 1 in a few short weeks. I have yet to finish his album. Therefore I am forcing myself to preview part of it in order to shame me into doing the rest.

I love how it's turning out and sure had fun making this page. I can't remember where I got the Dalmation files from - I belong to several Silhouette groups and I forgot to mark it down on these ones. They are truly amazing.

Tara this is all you get to see so far and I hope you like it. <3 p="">

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR

To get back scrapbooking and using the stash we all have horded away a few friends and I started monthly challenges.  We each get assigned a month and it could be a specific type of LO (layout) or certain items have to be on the page.

Well I didn't do them in order in fact I still have to do January and March.

I did do February though.

The challenge was to do a scrap page and use the embossing machine and embossing folders you have.  We all have them and use them on cards but hardly if ever on a page.

I'm currently scrapbooking our Disneyland 2007 trip so I thought this was perfect for BUZZ LIGHTYEAR

Here's my take on it

I thought my circles embossing folder made perfect planets for this page. I also used the Cricut to cut Infinity or Bust from the Toy Story Cartridge.  I thought it turned out great and Marcus loved it so that's all that counts.

Hopefully in the next week I can get another challenge done, but we will see I'm trying to learn to use my new machine The Silhouette Cameo.

Thanks for looking and Happy Scrapping

VINYL WORK

My craft space has finally gotten clean however this was a bit of inspiration that got it that way. Working on it made me realize how much I missed my space.

A really good friend has a daughter that goes to school with Marcus. They have been in the same classes for several years.  She's a sweetheart of a girl and our family thinks of her like she is one of ours as we do the whole family.

Anyways she wanted her sports bottle to have her name on it. I had previously done one for Marcus and his rugby bottle. She liked it and this is what she got.

I think it turned out really well and I really hope she liked it. I used the Cricut Mickey Mouse font for her name and I chose a butterfly (can't remember what cartridge it was on) on the other side because I see her blooming into a very beautiful young girl.

Revamped Space

There was time for some changes. Not only in me but in my space. Really it wasn't my space lately. It was a place to pile everything that didn't have a home or we didn't know what to do with it. It looked like an episode of Hoarders: Buried Alive.

So it took me 3.5 days but I did it. I purged and was mean and strict about it.

The recyclers were busy with me. Terry even had a truck load to the garbage dump. Nothing was safe. Even the dayhome toys got organized and purged and reorganized so that they too can use their space that was taken over.

I had 7 years of Marcus' school work in a cabinet. That is slowly getting purged. I have done 2 years of it so far. It's hard to get rid of his stuff but I'm keeping a few of the best and taking photos of other things I like but don't want to keep.

My space, it's a place for me to go and relax - it's my zen place. It calms me down even if it's just me sitting there. Sometimes Marcus joins me and we put on a movie, he does whatever in the other part of the room while I do my thing in my area.

Wanna see it all nice and clean now????

Here ya go

There's a lot of room for a few extra long tables for friends to come and play with me.

So until then I will just be here creating. Feel free to come on over! :)
